Mars Hill University moves forward with dormitory renovation

College students return back to campusMars Hill University in North Carolina has received a $250,000 grant from The Cannon Foundation, Inc. to support the renovation of its Huffman Residence Hall – a 26,932 square-foot dormitory that houses 136 students and staff.

The college estimates the total cost to be upwards of $1.5 million and will require replacement of several fixtures including: plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fire sprinkler system, roofing, heating system, bathrooms, flooring, technology, doors and windows, and finishes.

At The Refinishing Touch, we know well that large renovations such as these include high costs for furniture replacement in dorms and shared living areas. Furniture asset management services – such as refinishing, remanufacturing and reupholstery – results in significant cost savings and, more importantly, recycling furniture puts less of a burden on the environment by eliminating harmful landfill waste and carbon emissions.

Through on-site furniture refinishing, furniture asset management saves furniture, budget, the environment and drastically decreases downtime and student inconvenience.
